The organization awarding this scholarship is made up of women and men who are proactive members in the labor movement. Out members are on the front-line, empowering working women to become leaders in their unions and encouraging them to make a difference on the job, in their communities, and most importantly, in their own lives. Elks Scholarship The St. Augustine Elks Lodge #829 will be awarding six $1,000 scholarships to St. Johns County graduating seniors. Applicants are selected based on the overall excellence of the student, and include community service, extracurricular activities and financial need, as well as academic achievement. Award: $750 Deadline: April 10, 2020 Sons of Italy In America St. Augustine Lodge #2780 Initial Qualifying Factor: Scholarship may be provided for any St. Johns County high school student with a demonstrable Italian-American heritage (of any proportion) and will be judged utilizing the following general criteria. Applicants must currently residents of St. Johns County and plan to be in a program of study in the fall of 2019 at an accredited institution of higher education. This includes a four-year college or university, a two- year community college, or a vocational/technical school. 1. Additional Criteria: a. Candidates will be partially judged based on academic achievement (minimum 3.0 in high school). b. Recipient must be currently enrolled full-time in a St. Johns County school. c. Partial preference for this scholarship is provided to students whose parents do not have a baccalaureate degree. d. Applicants must be of good character, and have contributed to community, church, school, or home/family in some active demonstrated way. e. This scholarship criterion has a need-based, partial preference component for a degree seeking, St. Johns County Florida resident. Applicants with demonstrated financial need (expected family income based on FAFSA) will also be given some consideration. f. High school undergraduate students who demonstrate substantial financial need, are accepted in postsecondary educational institutions and whose parents have not earned a baccalaureate or higher degree, should clearly so state. 2.
